OH FOR THE LOVE OF LITTLE GREEN BOXES I HAVE ALREADY 'PROOFED' IE REWRITTEN 30 PAGES OF THIS TODAY AND I DEFINITELY HAVE AT LEAST 57 LEFT AND ANOTHER ENTIRE FILE AFTER THAT AND I DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW LONG IT IS, OR IF THERE ARE MORE FILES LEFT AFTER THAT, BECAUSE I'M AFRAID IF I LOOK AND THERE ARE I WILL JUST COLLAPSE IN HYSTERIA AND I'M ONLY GOING TO MAKE LIKE 450 EUROS ON THIS PROJECT WHILE THE COMPLETELY INCOMPENTENT TRANSLATORS HAVE 3000 TO DIVIDE BETWEEN THEM AND DID I MENTION THAT I AM TO A LARGE EXTENT DOING THEIR JOBS BECAUSE EVEN MEDIOCRE TRANSLATOR'S WORK, 10X AS GOOD AS BAD NORWEGIAN MORON GIRL'S, IS COMPLETELY SUB-STANDARD, AND I'M GOING COMPLETELY STIR CRAZY AND I JUST NEED TO GET OUT OF THE HOUUUUUUSE BUT MY DEADLINE IS IN 2 DAYS AND I MIGHT MISS IT IF I DON'T JUST KEEP WORKING AUUUUUUUUUUUGHHHHHH

I have no words for how unfair that is. Especially since the project managers are unlikely to care about your plight.

I take it that you're just as unable as I am to do a shitty job because there's no time? Like, you absolutely have to correct all the mistakes?

All the ones that are remotely capable of interfering with comprehension, yes. Sometimes I'm able to skip past the ones that are just really silly-sounding or using the wrong synonym or something, the ones that wouldn't actually cause any confusion. I tend to compulsively stop, though, if there's more than one error in a sentence even if it's technically readable...

Sucks so hard. Can you show some of the most egregious examples of what you got, vs. what you rewrote, to your project managers and point out that you have gone above and beyond your job description? I doubt they'd pay you more for this project but they might ask you to do something else for them at a higher rate...?

Comparison examples might be a good idea. None of the managers speaks English as a native language so I'm not sure QUITE how much use it will be, but I can use MSWord editing-time statistics (the most recent document of 150 pages took over 15 hours...)
