The Nootka people, Wikipedia informs us, are in actual fact the Nuu-chah-nulth indigenous inhabitants of the Pacific northwest Canadian coast, and the originators of the potlatch. So "Nootka" is probably somewhat politically incorrect, although it was chosen as a group handle for the several separate but related nations in 1979.
Anyway, my family's eccentricity... uh... continues. And "The Nootka people" shall be the first new household meme of 2009, to be used as the Default Attributee whenever something needs attributing. Just so y'all know.
