I'd want to go to the movies if it weren't like 10 below 0. On New Year's Eve, Perry was scared of the fireworks on his evening walk, and wouldn't actually walk anywhere. Then he refused to stay outside long enough to pee before bed, and then he peed on the floor in the morning. Then last night, it was so cold that he only peed once, and wouldn't walk around as usual, and once again, I wake up and he's peed on the floor. I guess he's finally getting old... too bad I can't train him to use the litter box. I mean, the floor is easy to clean; it's not that; but as a habitual thing? I hope not.

Ahaha, ouch! Oh, I hope not. Perry hates having to WEAR THINGS. He thinks he's in trouble. He's always embarrassed about going on the floor, too, and takes some soothing.

Buttercup was peeing his bed in the mornings a couple days in a row, about a month ago, but taking him out to pee about every two hours and standing there with him until he did it seems to have helped, and now we're back down to just “every time he gets that 'did I leave the gas on?' look” and before bed-times. Which is to say, I hope this might not be the new normal.

If he keeps doing it, it might be worth taking him to the vet to make sure he doesn't have a UTI or anything. Sometimes they can make dogs have unusual pee habits. Also, since it's so cold and he's older, he may be having arthritis pains and there might be some kind of anti-inflammatory he could have that would help.

All that said, maybe just start having a designated 'late night toilet' area with puppy pads or newspaper, so that if he does really have to go at least there's a place? (Though it sounds like he's like Pirate, who is HORRIFIED at the idea of going anyplace in the house. The one time he had an accident because his stomach was terribly unhappy, I swear if he could've cleaned it up himself, he would have.)
