Friends tell me that he can actually be heard from the building lobby 5 stories down when our door is closed. The neighbors must love us.
[Doorbell rings]
PERRY: MOM!!!! INTRUDERS!
ME: Okay, good boy, quiet now! I heard!
MAIL GUY: Haha-
PERRY: Just as I suspected! A strange man who wants to enter the apartment! No - Mom, where are you - don't go out there! ...AT LEAST TAKE ME WITH YOU!!!
ME [edging out into the hall without letting the dog by]: Uh, hahah. Perry... shh! [reflexively but without hope of success since Perry is a beagle]
PERRY: MOM!!! MOM? ARE YOU OKAY OUT THERE?
MAIL GUY: If you could just s -
PERRY [so loud as to completely drown him out]: MOMMY NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
MAIL GUY: - ign here...
ME: Sorry, I don't... uh... understand Finnish...
PERRY: WAX! MOM'S IN THE HALL WITH A STRANGE MAN!
MAIL GUY: -YOUR NAME?
ME: It's okay, Perry! - Oh, sorry. OK. [signs]
PERRY: MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
[MAIL GUY walks away laughing to himself as I go back inside and close the door. PERRY still doesn't stop barking.]
