I need to go to Indiska.
29 Oct 2009 06:04 pmIt's not that I often serve cookies or small cakes, but this particular cake tray has inspired me with a strong and focused cake-tray lust.
And you probably can't tell from this picture that that tea cup is actually a coffee cup and the size of a single-serving soup bowl, holding half a liter. Just kind of cuter than the crackle-glazed half-liter teacups Wax usually buys.

Date: 30 Oct 2009 03:54 pm (UTC)I am currently regretting my tiered tray mania (I have four of the suckers) because they are going to be a pain in the butt to move. Oh god, I hate moving so much.
I'm trying to re-evaluate my personal style because I'd like my new home to have an actual style/stylistic direction right from scratch. Sometimes I wish I had a more frou frou personality, because I think that shabby chic and retro stuff is cute, but it's just so not me that I just end up recoiling. Neither am I hip/ster, neither am into antiques or that clean light Scandinavian look.
SIGH.

Date: 30 Oct 2009 06:05 pm (UTC)(I designed this room from top to bottom, but my Mom then went in and added more clutter and tchotchkes and rainbow Chinese lanterns and suncatchers, and disarranged the shelves displaying the teacups and teapots to be more random and dotted with baskets and other things that I wouldn't have put there)
- but *this* place is Scandinavian pretty much of necessity, just with more color. But nothing would stop me from buying a relatively inexpensive piece of servingware no matter whether it matched anything; my mom has tons of the stuff and she just buys what she likes and it seems to work for her!
I would never serve bon-bons, probably, because I've never made nor had them, so it would really be for cookies (ooh, or cream puffs - I'd love to serve cream puffs). When I said "cakes", I was flashing back to the cakes (which are actually pastries) in The Magicians of Caprona, not thinking of the dish that I refer to as cake in day-to-day speech. Sometimes my brain is poorly organized like that.
