pom-pom beret
2 Jan 2010 04:57 pmThis beret, which I finished last night (I sewed on the pom-pom while watching "The Adventure of the Clapham Cook", the first-ever episode of Agatha Christie's Poirot, dating from 1989), is the most technically challenging crochet project I ever undertook! You can see the lacy doily-like pattern on top. I did quite a lot of unravelling and starting over there, trying to get a balance between spaces and wool that would look nice and lie flat. I'm very pleased with it, though!
The thing is, I can't knit, I can only crochet, really. And you only need so many woollen hats, while we have quite a large collection of wool waiting to be used, and I really like to crochet while I watch tv or movies. (Watched Mamma Mia and Priscilla, Queen of the Desert yesterday, which is possibly the gayest day my monitor has ever experienced.)
