cimorene: cartoony drawing of a woman's head in profile giving dubious side-eye (\o/)

This beret, which I finished last night (I sewed on the pom-pom while watching "The Adventure of the Clapham Cook", the first-ever episode of Agatha Christie's Poirot, dating from 1989), is the most technically challenging crochet project I ever undertook! You can see the lacy doily-like pattern on top. I did quite a lot of unravelling and starting over there, trying to get a balance between spaces and wool that would look nice and lie flat. I'm very pleased with it, though!

The thing is, I can't knit, I can only crochet, really. And you only need so many woollen hats, while we have quite a large collection of wool waiting to be used, and I really like to crochet while I watch tv or movies. (Watched Mamma Mia and Priscilla, Queen of the Desert yesterday, which is possibly the gayest day my monitor has ever experienced.)

do they all more or less match? You could make afghan squares.
