cimoreneWe took both kitties for a check up at the vet, and they're both pretty much doing OK.
Snookums is doing fairly well on his insulin - not well enough to reduce the dose, but quite encouraging. We continue as we have been and start over at trying to create a routine of regular blood glucose curves and spot-checks (we started before with a few curves, but everything that Happened in this ongoing omnishambles of a house purchase shoved it to the side for a bit).
The BB's tests all looked pretty good and she is still in the early or "pre-" stage of kidney disease. She is active and eating well, so we should simply continue feeding her her special diet with its phosphorus binders, but without need for any special alarm or efforts to completely eliminate the possibility of her stealing some of Snookums's food and vice versa. I still intend to try to remember to work egg whites into her diet more often though.
All this is reassuring because we're still at the "haven't yet become complete experts in this long-term feline illness so not completely confident of what is going on and what I should be doing about it" stage. Like, we found the online communities and read a lot of the information that's available about both conditions, but it's A Lot.
Also though Snookums has started having a dirty appearance inside his ear for the first time ever, so I worried he may have picked up mites or something when outside, but we forgot to ask the vet about that.
