Rain after a drought

Last night the forecast was for the rain to start after 10 today. I said, "Oh Good! I won't get wet on the way to the bus." I was wrong. It was already raining at 7 o'clock. I thought that as it wasn't torrential, it would be silly to bring a change or wear rain pants for just 2 blocks and crossing the street, but my jeans are thoroughly damp.

I hope it keeps it up for a week. My hydrangeas haven't bloomed fully and the buds have been falling off the hollyhock half-open and dried out.

She almost weighs 2 kilos! She still is very playful, but she naps much more now and she mostly plays by herself (and by attacking Snookums's butt).

As for the house... we haven't really done anything over the heat wave.I have a shelf half painted in the dining room along with a stool and candle stand I sanded and then didn't paint at all. We were supposed to make screens for the windows, but it was hot and we didn't even want to go buy the lumber. Maybe in Wax's second vacation in September.

But also oohh yeeees I hope we get rain soon, too, our yard is going yellow at an alarming rate.

It rained all day yesterday but it was supposed to keep going for at least 3 days and today I see slightly too much sun so far. Getting a bit worried. Our rain barrel's not full.
