Anubis Update

Anubis is such a sweet little darling!
Progress is being made, but after the above picture yesterday morning Tristana startled (?) him and he turned around and bit the back of her neck and they got into their first proper fight. They both have little scratches now and they left some tufts of fur on the floor. Before this, Tristana has been avoiding him so assiduously that she keeps running away, even though he thinks she's playing and gives chase every single time, and so she keeps holing up under the bed (in the hollow between all the under-bed storage bins) and hissing at him while he tries to stick his face in. Anyway, this time they stopped on the landing and again upstairs to actually fight and I strained my voice yelling at them, and Snookums watched the whole thing and you could just see the outrage. He followed Anubis for a while after this getting ready to avenge Tristana; I had to lock Anubis in the kitchen for a while to prevent that. And after that Snookums and Tristana joined forces while I was at work to chase Anubis COMPLETELY out of the work-from-home office (he was previously just growled at a bit and allowed to roam around as long as he didn't try to join them on the daybed).
Wax's brother and his family are here for two nights (the two nephews are getting confirmed in the cathedral - their triplet sister refused on grounds of being an atheist), and they're sleeping in the dining room which has been where Anubis was sleeping with Wax. So last night he was shut in there with them, and he loves new people and children but he did complain to me when I came down to feed Snookums in the middle of the night - he might've been missing Wax. He has been sleeping under her blanket this week. Soon enough, though, they'll be gone and then we're gonna have to see what happens, because Wax isn't moving back to the dining room.
Tristana's tiny brain cannot realize that running away from Anubis is never going to work (he's much faster) OR that she doesn't have to run away because he's not gonna come that close if she just stays where she is and hisses or growls at him. She ran away and he chased her AGAIN this morning even though she was up on the table with Snookums and there was no way he could get up there. So she's basically just a giant fraidy cat and this is the center of all our problems, because Snookums (prior to yesterday's fight that is) was just ignoring him and had even shared a sofa with him. She's probably going to take many weeks to warm up to him at this rate, so he may not be able to sleep in the bedroom with everybody else.
