Cramps started, our shipment of kitty litter was delayed over the weekend and Snookums was having gastrointestinal distress(tm), and for cat reasons I inhaled way more paint thinner than intended today.

One of the things we accomplished on Wax's vacation was Wax built some nice sturdy wooden toekicks that snap in place under our kitchen cabinets, but they had exposed screw heads and needed to be spackled, primed and painted. With trim paint. Because they're trim.

When you buy only paint that doesn't contain plastic, you end up with some innovative modern paints that smell great and clean up with water like Uula's interior paint and furniture paint and clay paints and milk paints and lime paints, but also some old-fashioned paints like linseed oil paint and other oil paints, still the most durable and effective waterproof paint for wood exposed to weather.

When we did our initial research two years ago and had learned that Uula was a nice, trustworthy ecological plastic-free Finnish brand, in a moment of weakness we just bought their door and window paint (without researching the alternatives exhaustively from multiple sources), in a big 2+ liter can tinted traditional trim white, intending to paint all the trim on the house and sorta assuming it was linseed oil paint-based. We never started doing that painting until now, but also, in the meanwhile I learned:

§ Uula's door and window paint isn't linseed oil paint, but it's oil paint that stinks and it's thinned with paint thinner, so maybe it has petroleum, or a mix of oils?

§ Like the petroleum paint they also make with the excuse that it's not technically plastic, this paint isn't actually 0-VOC and the waste is 'hazardous waste' that can't be thrown away in the trash or picked up by garbage truck. Like all plastic paints, it's supposed to be driven to the dump yourself, where you pay them to take it.

§ Uula doesn't actually disclose their ingredients, because trade secrets!

§ But the nice water-based paint that they CALL furniture paint can also be used on interior trims, so what is even the point of this paint we bought?! I'm mad about it. But we can't just throw out that quantity of unused paint. It's over a hundred euros' worth of oil paint, and the replacement furniture paint would cost that again.

The cats who can't meet one another, the placement of doors in the house, and the resulting man-boat-goat-cabbage problem resulted in my attempting to have the door open to the room with Snookums and Tristana in it, and Tristana ran across the wet paint on the doorsill twice, then later tripped me up so I couldn't catch Snookums in time to keep him from stepping on it, so I had to go wiping white paw prints off the floor with paint thinner twice today.

Oh, no! My condolences on the Painted Paws incidents; that can't be fun for any of the parties involved.

I'd be so tempted to leave the painted pawprints on some surface as a ""design element"" instead of cleaning them up. (Though probably not the floor. A windowsill or trim piece, though, yep.) :D

Can you sell the paint to someone who’s happy to use it? I am looking for more wallpaper now, and thinking about your baseboards and cat paw print decorations
