i don't like this secret admirer crap. maybe i should be flattered, but i don't seem to have it in me. instead am much disturbed. don't like the anonymous crush thingies.

Especially hated it once I realised how it worked. (All your guesses get that 'someone's got a crush on you' email, and if they guess that you have a crush on them they're told they're right).

I wrote them a portentious (or pretentious) email, quite long, more in sorrow than in anger etc: 'you realise this is Fraud? and a Lie? and think of the consequences in the age of the cyber-stalker, here are some examples from my fertile imagination' ... which was my way of saying "I have just caused my boss to be sent a 'crush' email and if he ever finds out it was me, I shall be sick all over his desk".

They never replied to my email, which surprised me not at all: but I've never had another 'crush' email, either.

..yup, yup, exactly what i say when i find some viscous, almost unrecognizable, stalk or other (say rhubarb, or onion even) calmly pooling in the bottom back of the fridge crisper -- i usually don't dispose of it in the compost pile right away (there's always the chance someone else will take care of it) -- but once i've worn out 'ew, i don't like this' (or variations thereof, like wtf is this) then it must be composted post haste -- with the online stalker (from the german: more than one stalk), it is far easier - just a key stroke moves the offending deposit to the great composting bin in cyberneverland where it can remain, mixing well with other guano until needed by some organic cybergardener, perhaps from another reality, even..
