the kerfluffle, folks, has now reached--dare we shrink from the term--debacle proportions. it's gone for a few weeks, it's grown a tail, and people are going after the innocent impartial journalists.

edit: i was wrong. cim's an idiot. the poem has not been taken down and the 'lesson learned' post came before it.

1. this one posted. summary: she shouldn't have posted the poem and allowed it to fall into the wrong hands. excerpt:
Lesson Learned: *NEVER* hand over one single strand of my personal power to anyone who could not possibly have my best interests at heart.

2. soon after that, [livejournal.com profile] daisy_gamgee cooled down a bit and posted this. summary: she feels guilty when she loses her temper, which is why this is hard for her. but she thinks she should stop feeling guilty because she has the right to lose her temper. (i agree completely. don't feel guilty, dear.) of course, my interpretation isn't closed to debate. excerpt:
I'm finding, too, that I canNOT keep righteous anger going. Just can't. ... Note to self: let it out a little at a time, and keep your boundaries intact. You don't have to pretend it doesn't bother you.

3. [livejournal.com profile] daisy_gamgee posted the poem excerpted below in this morning's update. summary: she can't control criticism, but she can control the story. if you don't like it, don't read it.

4. i posted this morning's update.

5. [livejournal.com profile] thechaosdiva posted [half-]jokingly in reply to my update that she wanted to throw not thou into the fire, but [livejournal.com profile] daisy_gamgee herself.

6. this thread sprang up from my post o' the morning between, initially, Miss Gamgee and Miss Chaos. quickly other things transpired, namely, i affixed my tiara more firmly and stepped briefly into the fray. basically (and we switch to the present tense becasue cim is more comfortable there):

-claire was offended indirectly by the kerfluffle, as her friends were hurt by it.
-daisy thinks that if claire's friends were guilty, it was with reason. and she can't control her fans.
-claire explains that people are afraid of daisy's fans.
-daisy says that she responds to polite criticism and takes into account constructive criticism but that she was originally upset because of the impolite* and non-anonymous* character of the post.
-i point out that the politeness of the post was debatable and that it would have been anonymous if the ip address hadn't been traced.
-daisy sees that she should waste no more time explaining to me.
-i write this little essay on etiquette in the world of fandom queens. it numbers among its points some advice about grace and level-descending. (daisy takes my advice with a quite graceful, 'as i said, i shan't pursue it'! she descended not one whit, although she forgot to pretend she hadn't noticed, i think.)

Oh, mine too...just the right mixture of sweet/salty. I'm so glad they've come out with it in microwave form now. Of course, the kind with that fake white cheese also goes well with flaming fan queen, I'm told.

Me too--I discovered the microwave version in July, while I was at [livejournal.com profile] thechaosdiva's place, in fact. As for fake white cheese, I won't touch the stuff, but I'll trust your judgment *pops a few pieces of k.k. in her mouth, smiles*

microwave vs. fresh

but clearly the best kind of kettle corn can only be found at state fairs. the microwave stuff just isn't as unhealthy ;)

to borrow your words, jesusfuck.

Ah yes, the kind where your fingers are slick with a thick fake butter that no soap will remove and the oil pools in your palm when you grab a handful...is good, like all state fair food. It's really in a category by itself, you know? I mean, where else can you find, in a fifty-yard strip, fried oreos, fried Twinkies, fried Snickers, fried Mars bars, fried apples, fried ice cream, fried vegetables, fries, fried dough, fried sausage, fried chicken, fried steak, fried fish, fried pickles, fried hot dogs, fried bananas, and fried onions. I am convinced that next year, they'll sell fried lard. And then of course, you have the healthy options, like popcorn, cotton candy, caramel and candy apples, ice cream, sno cones...

Have decided I miss the fair. Must find one, go, and listen to my arteries snapping merrily shut.

Oh, and yes, the impaction of the manure against the air conditioning device is a delight to watch!

i write this little essay on etiquette in the world of fandom queens.

And a very very good essay it was, too. It Made Sense, which takes some doing amidst all the kerfluffleage. (Is that a word?) :adds her applause, even if she doesn't come bearing kettle corn:
