maybe i'll post some more icons and then index some more icons over at that joyful land of perpetual youth, sunshine, and sex, [livejournal.com profile] iconsensual.

i slept three hours today! whew! and i come to hear there's a thingy of frozen noodles romanoff with my name on it, so yay, no actual cooking, and shut up, thank you.

[star trek] so jim is 36 in the series, we'll say, 41 at the end of the five-year mission, +3 years of gol!spock=44 at the beginning of st:the motion picture, and do they or do they not continue past v'ger for another full tour of duty, making him 49 when they return? or do they just gallivant about for a bit around the galaxy and then come home? ::goes to check her shatner!book of great evilitude in that it gave birth to all the shatner/nimoy bunnies:: --i can't find it. okay, so stii starts out with spock giving jim spectacles for his birthday and boo-hoo, he's all old and stuff. how old is he? 45? 50? 55? because this story i'm writing needs to be set between the first two movies. dammit, i don't want to look it up. k'saaaaaaaaaaaal, help meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.[/star trek]

Should I start putting "please do not index" warnings on anything I post? They will all go away in a week or so because I'm just mooching my parents' webspace and eventually they'd notice. Anyhow, it is the land of sunshine :)

Also, *happydance* for new Star Trek story!

In "The Deadly Years" (mid season 2), Jim says he's 34.

ohh. that throws my calculations all off! but what part of the mission was that. maybe he's 36 at the END, so that means that he's 39 in ST:TMP, and even if they're gone for five years when he gets back he's 44, so STII could be his 45th birthday! (but i don't want it to be. i like to leave a few years in between for happy sex and stuff. how about STII starts with his 50th birthday. yes, i like that.)

He's 48 or 49.

"Wrath of Kahn" takes place fifteen years after "Space Seed". That's season 1, so presumably is a year or so ahead of the events in "The Deadly Years", when, as noted, he's 34. So, depending on where his birthday falls, his 33rd or 34th birthday falls in the year of "Space Seed".

damn, but i KNOW wok starts with a birthday scene! you remember the eyeglasses! and there's a big deal with shatner, in interviews, about how they were discussing it with the writers and they decided to run with the oldness, not try to disguise how much time had passed, so jim was passing a milestone and really starting to feel his age?

i can go with 48, though. i have him turning 45 in the story i'm working on--but then where does that place the end of STTMP? i thought i had that worked out to 41 or 42.

so say they don't stay out for 5 years after TMP--just one, maybe. they return when jim's 40. and he's 48 at the beginning of TWOK. that gives eight years. if i set a story on the 42nd or 43rd birthday, that gives a bit of time to settle into their Academy posts after returning, but still leaves a good bit of time before TWOK to allow for the awkwardness between them that i read into it before the Farewell Through Plexi scene of great momentousness and Love.

ooh! why, thank you, that would be lovely and i'd adore you forever. i haven't got an encyclopedia, you see. can i do anything for you? an icon request or something? a short little dribblet (not drabble, you see, because it'd be more than 100 words and would have something of a plot) of a favorite pairing?

You've already supplied me with many an icon, so I consider this returning the compliment. Though if you felt like writing a Drew Barrymore/Liv Tyler ficlet, I wouldn't say no ... ;-)

Not as far as I know - that shot's from the 1999 Academy Awards ceremony

But perhaps Liv could be up for Charlie's Angels III ...

Also, IIRC, Spock gives Jim a book - a copy of A Tale of Two Cities, I think. The spectacles are from Bones.

Dear heart, since I had my Chronology hanging about three feet away from me;

2233 - James Kirk is born, in Iowa on Earth, on March 22. (This is based on The Deadly Years)
2271 - STTMP (making him... 38 then)
...Then they do go on another 5-year mission, according to conjecture, returning in 2276...
2277 - Spock accepts command of the Enterprise
2281 - Kirk retires from Starfleet
2284 - Kirk returns to Starfleet as an instructor
2285 - STII - WoK - 'Admiral James Kirk celebrates his 52nd birthday.'

You probably didn't want half that info, but there you have it. Never reveal your need for details to a Trek Geek(tm). ^____^
