What song reminds you of your father? Of your mother? the who and many others=dad. mom=gordon lightfoot, billy joel and elton john. and that 'cat's in the cradle' song. and jim croce. and 'put your head on my shoulder, whisper in my ear.'
What song reminds you of your sibling(s)? UGH.
What song reminds you of elementary school? nothing.
What song reminds you of junior high? andrew lloyd weber.
What song reminds you of high school? vitamin c's goddamned graduation song. eminem's bitter one (ahahah yeah). nsync. britney's crazy and oops! christina's what a girl wants.
What song reminds you of college? j lo's 'i'm real.' sarah slean and esthero. fiona apple. tori.
What song reminds you of the happiest time of your life? ummmm, i don't know that i have a song for the happiest time. or that i have a time all picked out, either.
What song reminds you of the hardest time of your life? lloyd weber: 7th grade and 8th grade. also, mariah carey's music box for 6th.
What song makes you laugh every time you hear it? er, weird al's 'albuquerque.'
What song makes you cry every time you hear it? it doesn't.

Imagine a time capsule, to be opened in two hundred years. You have to put five albums into the capsule - not necessarily your favorites, but the ones that will say the most about your life thus far. What five do you choose?
1. NSYNC: NSYNC.
2. tori amos: little earthquakes.
3. simon & garfunkel: greatest hits.
4. britney: oops!
5. alicia keys: songs in a minor.

Go to This Day In Music, plug in your 16th birthday, and find out what song was #1 on the US chart that week. (Or, the UK chart, if you're in Europe) If you recognize the song, what memories does it evoke?

dec 9 98: 'i'm your angel' by r kelly. don't remember it at all. hate r kelly.

Do the same for your 21st birthday, if you've passed it. no luck.

What CD are you currently listening to, or did you last listen to? Is it from a genre you listened to as a teenager? (If you're still a teenager, would you have listened to it three, four years ago?) christina's stripped is in the player in the car; it's pop, which i've liked for five years or so. i'm just barely not a teenager, so.

What CD in your collection would your teenage/younger self laugh at? uhm?

What CD/artist did you love when you were younger that you now cringe at? er... raffi? seriously, i don't think there are any.

If you could buy everyone on your friends list one CD, what would it be and why? simon & garfunkel, greatest hits--everyone should know them whether they want to or not.

Bonus question: what band most deserves a tribute album? What current artists should cover their songs? i don't care.

in other news, angel sounds a lot more entertaining as a long long series of recaps, because, like buffy, when you're actually watching it it's more gradual and believable, whereas it sounds like one big parody of, um, something, if you're just having it described to you in general terms. but it does not sound like anything i'd care to watch in those terms. whereas actually, until i overdosed, i was liking it fine.
