i forgot to watch star trek (tng only, alas, but still, it's something to do/look forward to). dammit.

in other news, i've been reading to my dad from a resnick/greenberg anthology called sherlock holmes in orbit which is frankly mediocre at best. it's often worse than mediocre. the quality of these stories--fanfiction by the pros!--is extremely low. proving once again that it's harder to write good fanfiction than to write good original fiction. although naturally it's harder with a literary genre and no doubt the holmes stories are a little harder than some to pin down. speaking of, somehow before i missed this archive of holmes/watson slash. awww. <3

y'know, I actually watched part of ST today and thought of you. All I saw before Dr. Smith made me change it was Sulu passed out on a table, and for some reason, the comm system wasn't working at all. And Kirk made someone else helm the ship while he yelled at Uhura (sp?) and then smiled lovingly at her. And the whole time, all I could think was how much less attractive Shatner was in person, decades later. I'm mean.

well, he really is. he was never 100% attractive, either. he has good angles and bad angles, and whatnot. but i will defend his acting!

and i can't recognize the episode from that snippet, but alas, there are some that i still haven't even seen.

hmm...there was a woman (rather ominous, and very precarious whitish swirly updo) who dr. smith swore was ST's creator's wife, cause apparently she was on TNG a bunch. But yeah, she was doing something with her hands, like. She touched Spock and tried to brainwash him into falling in love with her...or something.

I was intrigued, but alas, dr. smith had the remote. bastard.

And yeah, Shatner has a face of leather. Scary, really.

majel barrett was his secretary, i think, or his girlfriend, in the original run of tos, where she played nurse chapel. they married later and she played lwaxana troi, the counselor's mother, on tng. she was also 'number one,' the character from the original tos pilot who was discontinued. maybe it was the naked time, the one where they all get drunk.

in that one, sulu chases everyone around, shirtless, with a fencing rapier.

he grabs uhura by the arm and says something like 'blah blah, fair maiden!' ...maybe 'fear not'? and she jerks her arm away and says 'sorry, neither!' and darts into the turbolift and gets away.
