the cat survived the operation and is fine for now and awaiting some test results. not out of the forest, however.

also new year's resolution generator )

also, people. manips: just. say. no. *weeps just a little bit*

i've already finished reading this year's yuletide (you know, all the fandoms i know and want to read fic about) and the most exciting things, i think, were:

here is where i am keeping track of my holiday-fest reading.

so, it was midsummer today. traditionally, you go to a bonfire the night before and then drink in the country. the local slashas are rebels, so we baked a pie (i mean, [livejournal.com profile] wax_jism baked it) and then watched two episodes of doctor who plus finding nemo, which is one of my favourite movies ever - i mean, like, one of my top five - and then animal factory, because when i enthusiastically mentioned it as a live-action version of finding nemo, chi and sugar were hooked.

when i say a live action version of finding nemo, what i mean is this: animal factory is a sweet and fluffy gay prison movie produced and directed by steve buscemi, in which edward furlong is a hot young man in prison and willem dafoe is the tough and competent guy who falls for him and takes him under his wing and does his very best to get him out of there. when i say gay, i mean explicitly gay, not just gay in the way that all prison movies are gay. i mean gay in that willem confesses his feelings, and there is some groping, and edward's initial cellmate is a transsexual played by mickey rourke who always wears a matching bra and panties, and false eyelashes. i really don't know why more people don't love this movie. the mental comparison to finding nemo makes it even more satisfying.

so i came away entertaining that imaginary story that i first thought up the first time wax showed me the film, you know, the one in which willem oh, spoiler )

free to all takers.
(if you don't remember yesterday, someone e-mailed me that comment and i thought... wouldn't that make a great t-shirt? sady i don't have enough takers to order them screenprinted.)

i'm feeling sort of slow today.

it's really sad when 'fish' doesn't make me think of 'finding nemo' doesn't make me think 'sex' anymore. maybe i should watch it again, and then ponder more fishy slash.

lalala. i got this comment today: I...uh...I have no IDEA what to say about the gay fish sex, except...gay fish sex! Wow! You sure wrote some gay fish sex there.

wouldn't YOU SURE WROTE SOME GAY FISH SIX THERE make a great t-shirt?

me: i had to buy it to research for my nemo/gill slash story.
lillian: oh! i want to read it. can i read it?
me: it's up to mommy if you can read stories with sex. you're only twelve.
mom: yes. you can.
lillian: YAY!
mom: did you hear her, though? it has sex. do you want to read it?
lillian: i'm taking a sex education course!
me: it's illegal for you to read online though.
mom: lillian, why aren't you doing your chores?
lillian: if someone will print out the finding nemo story with sex in it, i'll do the kitty litter and then i can read it before bed.

anyone on im now willing to give me their opinion of the final scene of the nemo/gill? (you can see the whole thing if you want, but i want an immediate opinion on the end before i post.)

i've just reached about 5300 words of nemo/gill, or close to fifteen pages. who's the man?

sometimes people you know online make you completely forget ages--forget they're different at all, forget what they are. i mean, all we are in fandom is personalities and interests and snarkiness and whatnot suspended in a mental-intellectual-virtual framework, and real distances are as nothing.

well, anyway. sometimes you forget how old someone is. and sometimes you... don't.

the strange sex lives of reef fish.

they all start life male, and the biggest one in the clan gets to become female.

o.0

(but... how can i use this?)
cimorene: cartoony drawing of a woman's head in profile giving dubious side-eye (Default)
1. author sues disney over finding nemo. the wild thing is that my baby cousin perrin has the book (in english, not french, sadly) and jenny and i independently noticed the likeness. there are some similarities in story line (i.e., the things which happen to nemo--caught by diver. put in tank.) and even some similar images (swimming right in front of the goggles--almost spot on). so, like, i'm inclined to think he has a case. but then i really liked the movie, and most of the fabulous qualities of it weren't the like bits.

2. i just spent approx. an hour trying to figure out the names of the little fish, octopus, and seahorse (tad, pearl and sheldon). and i ran out to first movie gallery (they didn't have it) and then blockbuster to buy the dvd. (it cost fuckin' $22!)

3. i started the nemo/gill slash. but i haven't quite finished the first scene.

i'm exhausted and perry's not happy about my having been gone for almost ten hours, but i feel good; lisa took good care of me. nothing scares me like trying to talk about my problems with my mother does, apparently, and that was something that i did not know. also, i can consume a whole plate of pre-packaged alfredo sauce with no ill effects. and finding nemo was really pretty good. i'm really wanting to slash nemo and gill, like, really. now someone pipe up and tell me i'm not alone, please. please?
