one weekend of real life

so my family has left, after treating me to a bunch of expensive meals and buying me a ton of chocolate, hot chocolate, ramen noodles, goldfish crackers, dictionaries, etc... am back in room contemplating homework. back to college! no more restaurants or wandering picturesque streets. no more paying itinerant steel piano players.

essay due wednesday. bleh.

random thought

sleeping in the same bed with my sister reminds me of those laura ingalls wilder books--with the cold sheets, and crawling in with carrie and mary (names?). the first night, we had this huge full hotel bed, so my sis (who's 10 and v. small for her age) didn't know i was there till she woke up, when she flung herself into my arms and told me her dream.

last night we spent at the house of my commonlawstepfirstcousinonceremoved!, carolyn (for the non-cognoscenti and non-native speakers of english, she would be my dad's step-cousin, but her aunt and my grandfather just live together and aren't actually married). her house is kept at the evil temp of 69 degrees F, so i wore a polartec scarf and sweater and shoes inside. when crawled into bed (which was smaller than twin-size), sharing seemed good because i thought i would be cold. no go. the comforter's fucking down or something. spent a night tossing and trying not to fall out, waking up regularly, and woke up nauseated with hunger at 7 am!* but had to share, too, b/c the sister made a cute face and a whimpering noise. and, fuck, who can resist that??? she's so snuggly, despite being bony and angular.

*result of walking all over followed by 2 hours of athletic dancing on 1 real meal and about 2 glasses of water all day long, plus 2 nights running of little sleep.

why do i keep getting assaulted by plot bunnies that make NO sense, and which no one would want to read? middlemarch (george eliot) slash? hamlet slash? and now, drumroll please, frankenstein slash? WTF? give me a BREAK. the fucking thing's already half written itself in my head and i've only read 18 pp of the assigned 125. furthermore, i'm in the middle of my fal torr pann story! *whimper*
