i remember being fabulously excited by cons when i was a little girl and feeling i could go and go all day and all night and i couldn't stand when things closed. it's not as good as i remembered. dragoncon is bigger, for one thing--the last time we went to it it was much smaller and it was then the largest i'd ever been too. i don't like the size. being there with daddy was way more exhausting, too. getting through the crowds with his wheelchair was ugh. (the CROWDS.) and it's cold EVERYWHERE, and there was no way to keep him warm. on the plus side i bought some things for me and a present for ray. it's all going to be over too quickly and i'm not going to have done anything. the programming is spread all over in multiple hotels. we found some of the rooms late friday night--too late to do any good. but we didn't stray from the exhibit hall building today, and i didn't see any of the tolkien track things i wanted to see. if i don't get to see the TORn thing on rotk tomorrow, i'm going to be pissed. already daddy definitely can't go. and finally, for such a tremendous con, it had awfully few writer guests. anne mccaffrey may be something of a hat feather since she refused to attend cons, but she's a fanfic-suppressing freak who produces badfic at a rate that would shame ff.net, albeit better punctuated. there's NO ONE here i'd like to have something signed by if i could--although i think claudia christian is, and possibly the whole cast of lexx was going to be there tonight (i saw the captain in the exhibition hall, handing out posters of the mostly-nekkid female lead. in retrospect i don't remember why i didn't get one...).
