cimorene: cartoony drawing of a woman's head in profile giving dubious side-eye (international woman of mystery)

my updates have been getting less frequent and also less fandomy lately as i've been doing most of my fandoming on aim: squeeing, watching clips, exchanging pictures, in some cases writing in the chat window with [livejournal.com profile] aeslis and [livejournal.com profile] elfiepike, constructing incredibly elaborate alternate universes together with [livejournal.com profile] elfiepike (nino has wings! aiba is a transformed kitten! ohno and aiba own a bakery called Bread from the Heart! jun is a roman patrician! arashi are all slash fandom bnfs!), and more recently achieving success at last in my project of converting [livejournal.com profile] perhael to the sparkly gay japanese crack rps side. when not doing that i have been trying and sometimes succeeding to write, and reading, and doing homework. (last night i spent about three hours on some spanish exercises we didn't even go over - it just damned well better have been good for my brain, is all.)

we watched csi:ny and criminal minds today. the former was pretty cool and the latter was one of my favourite episodes thus far.

1. i'm detecting definite shipper behaviour in myself for garcia/morgan: you know how you store up every moment the otp stand together or exchange a look and squee? yeah, i'm all "he called her baby!" and "ahhh, immediately he thinks of his girl" and everything. not to say that it's not being put in canon consciously, cause i think it is, but... yeah... immensely pleased by the little dribblets.

2. reid's hair. reid's new glasses. he's... no more nor less adorable than before actually. "he looks like my shrink!" says wax.

3. huge reduction in villain cam this episode and the victim cam almost exclusively conveyed through an actual camera mounted in the room by the villain. i usually regard villain cam and victim cam equally as sloppy and annoying "cheating" in the criminal minds plots, plus more or less unnecessary. so that was really nice.

4. ELLE BEING CRAZY. omg. okay, for one thing, i love that they muss her hair slightly and dress her in the jacket equivalent of cargo pants to indicate she's going stir crazy. crazy = dubious fashion choices, where 'dubious' equals 'kind of butch and definitely not professional' - elle! what happened to your beautiful cropped blazers? elle, GET A GRIP! being temporarily out of work is no reason to neglect to look sexually available! yeah. the metatext on tv is so hilarious. and meanwhile, i love how she bosses reid around. daddy should have left one of the BIG brothers in charge of her, because when reid is like "but you aren't allowed to leave the building" she's like "shut up" and he's just like, "...okay". yeah, thanks, reid. also i love hotch's response to it at the scene - scolding elle, reassuring reid, and getting over it in about 1 second and sending her into the crime scene. XD

after all that excitement, by the way, about last week's csi, i was a little let down, at least, by the sara/grissom thing. i should have expected this of course. wax points out that they did develop the thread - i noticed two main hints back to it offhand and i think some smaller ones, she's definitely right about that, but they - after introducing it with that much drama, they didn't really show us that much more about it, you know? were they really at a hotel before, like it looked like? if so, why do they have assignations in a hotel, and how often? we're seeing more intimacy now, which is another clue. maybe that's the whole gimmick. maybe we're going to have to figure it out entirely for ourselves. it's like audience-participation csi.

in other news, i am prematurely sleepy. it's not even eleven, and this is the first night of my weekend. clearly i am suffering from under exposure to arashi. the question is: try to achieve jun/aiba smut some more or watch an episode?

also, it appears [livejournal.com profile] anglepoiselamp is giving a presentation at the queer studies conference at the university of turku at 10 am sunday, so [livejournal.com profile] shiroi_chi and i are going to go at least (i don't know if [livejournal.com profile] wax_jism will want to - god, i remind myself of those women who always go to church without their husbands). turku being itself and finland being itself, it may well be that i won't get to see in person any other work on fandom at all before i've written some of my own, if i do do that for one or more of my theses.

i read your intro! i don't think you're really talking out of your arse. at least most of the intro seemed like a pretty decent summary of recent meta trends in fandom.

Phew, thanks. The speech is deliberately overview-ish, obviously, because it's pointless to go into fine detail about things most of the audience has never heard of before. Also because of the lecture time limits it had to be The Short History Of Everything In 20 Minutes. :D

I have *such* love for Garcia/Morgan that I am unable to express it with words. In one of the first season episodes I finally got to see, she did something amazing with the computer and Morgan kissed her hair. I may have died of joy.

HE DID? WHEN? I MUST REWATCH IT. sadly the first few episodes with them in i kind of spaced on most of the details.

I can't remember which one it was! I think it was either "Plain Sight" or "Natural Born Killer," because those are the only two older episodes I've watched recently.
