criminal minds
23 Oct 2006 12:48 ami gave in to impulse and went looking for criminal minds fanfiction. oh het fiction, why must you torment me so by always sucking, no matter what fandom you're in? how bittersweet is the mingled longing for one more story and relief that the supply of badfic has been exhausted! at this point i'm fairly confident i've read all there was to read. i even bookmarked one! but it was one of those horribly disappointing things where the UST is so well-done and canon and as soon as the author thinks she has kissing in her sights it sinks below the level of reccability (though not the level of readability, granted, it wasn't totally without merit).
speaking of criminal minds, this week two really significantly... significant things happened.
1. elle went over to the dark side, and
2. garcia/morgan made me halfway fall off the sofa with laughter. this is when he goes halfway to phonesex, as usual (something like "now do me a favour and look up 'goddess' and 'sexy' and tell me what you find..."), and then turns to find a row of middle-aged fertility clinic clients staring at him with mingled expressions of "do those lines actually work on girls?" and "he can call me any time". "uh, it's a work call," he says awkwardly.
okay, i lied about #2. it wasn't significant in any senses except for the "making cim happy" sense and the "chronology of increasingly intense flirting between garcia and morgan" sense.
meanwhile, #1 is probably actually going to be significant. i'm seeing a season-long plot arc here, i suspect. they've started setting up this descent of elle's as early as last season's finale in actuality, so i don't think they're going to treat it at all lightly. whether they are going to treat it competently is another question. at least they haven't squicked me yet. i'm pretty much okay with the vigilante approach of elle's, actually. as moral dilemmas go, especially on crime shows, it's pretty vanilla, but i guess in elle's case the breakdown and her personal feelings about it have been well set up. the scene where they used elle as bait was well done, very dramatic.
on the other hand, i'm not sure how i feel about their way of making her vulnerable (read: kind of crazy). why does traumatised have to equal crazy in that - really WOMAN-crazy kind of way (or maybe i'm overanalysing and projecting my biases onto the text)?
i need to find the time to marathon all the episodes up to now. it wasn't my favourite show right away and i didn't pay nearly enough attention to the early episodes in s1.

Date: 23 Oct 2006 09:20 am (UTC)what with these huge reserves of het fiction that are just invisible to slashers i have been hearing about, i was really disappointed to not find a single piece of porn, not even of harlequin-quality. dammit, since when is gay sex EASIER to find?
