okay, soooooo, i've edited japanese oral script (exam friday at 1:35). it's good. have tentatively chosen topic for linguistics*. must eat, shower, study greek.

*my final paper for linguistics is supposed to be a sort of informal mini-study in semantics. the book example suggests using related words like "lady" and "woman" and having a number of people rate them on a bunch of 7-point scales for connotations between "good" and "bad," "active" and "passive," etc. well, yawn. here's my variation:

words used in IM conversations to indicate emotion. surely they must get misinterpreted. yay. have a bunch of people rate them for connotations specifically re: the other person's intent.

is *shrug* universally rude? are *hugs* and "hahah" universally friendly?

i just have to pick the words and design the questions now. any word-suggestions would be most appreciated. otherwise i'm going to be combing chat transcripts this afternoon.

hahaha!

to one unacquainted with mirrors it is always helpful to have the objective evaluation of others regarding little details of personal appearance, for example: "the hellish look that i had heard described seemed to leap into his face. his eyes flamed red with devilish passion; the great nostrils of his white aquiline nose opened wide and quivered at the edge..."

what, after all, is perfection but the reflection of love?

i just wrote a letter to my mom for mother's day and am feeling a bit mopey. two more weeks, folks, and alabama, iced tea, swimming, family and puppy are in my future. hum. i love my mommy.

antorell the wizard while six inches tall due to shrinking spell, with killer the frightened rabbit-turned-7-ft-blue-donkey-with-wings

(it's not bestiality if they both talk?)

[edit: that would be from patricia c wrede's calling on dragons, one book of the series from which i've taken my pseudonym.]

i love that popup ad. "pornography? on my computer?" it's more likely than you think! free content check! bwahahahaha. this is when hotbar, having detected the content of my website, displays "free porn!" ads and "no more softcore!" well, thank god for that, at least.

must. stop. procrastinating. aaaaaaaarg.

ok, well, evidently i haven't stopped caring about greek entirely. look, if i'm not going to do it, then i need to do japanese or linguistics instead, because. because i have quite a lot of it to do, yes, thank you. *eyes book warily* word pairs for linguistics should be forming in the back of my mind, meanwhile. they're not.

*brightly* reading chat transcripts in the middle of the niiiiiiiight! funnnnnnnnn.

oops.

i've realized i don't really care about school--at all. don't want to fail as that would be embarrassing, but hate it passionately and am supremely uninterested. i feel about it just like i did about high school.

this must be bad.

*worryworry*

okay, sentence #1 out of five only took... an hour and a half, and... i have... raisins. just shoot me now. (i mean. raisins are nice, smooches to rm#1, but caffeine is probably better at this stage. "having conquered," for god's sake. i'm at that stage of insanity where having to translate the present perfect active plural masculine participle [got that?] makes me see red. and you don't want to know how long i spent looking for it.) raisins, tea. tea. *whimper* are there any fluent speakers of ancient greek around here?

[edit: ummm, maybe it wasn't so finished after all--it SEEMS to be saying when the enemy came, the trophy stood out as having conquered. and that can't be right. can it?]
