my sister's been spending all her time on the computer making mix cds like "you can dance, dance, dance but don't fall down!" and "funky sounds for the teenage soul" (which she naturally has named herself). the latter consists of "survivor" and "bootylicious" followed by the entirety of the avril lavigne cd, apparently in order. sometimes...

also, my parents worked out that 40 hours a week divided by seven is six hours a day, so every day, i need to do six hours of work in a combination of writing stuff for publication and job-hunting. they made it simple for me by mentioning it several times this morning so i would be sure not to forget. mom also wants to make sure that i know amherst is not giving them a refund yet--which they are supposed to be doing, mind. it hasn't occurred to them to ask amherst themselves, although of course they would get more attention than i would and could, in fact, have had it all over with when i was in finland. oh, and that from now on, they're not buying me shampoo. i'll believe that when i see it.

perry is lying alertly on the floor with his ears perked up. what is it, perry? it's 4 pm finnish time, a particularly dead dull time of the day, since wax is squarely at work. am tempted to go back to sleep, except for once i almost slept well. i mean, i didn't, but all the waking up was at least not due to pain for once.

--how do you turn the fucking things OFF? winxp is so annoying. you get these random things like 'x is the #1 proven way to enlarge your manhood!' and have to click OK.

grrrrrrrrr!

edit--i think i may have killed them. so that's good. er. yes.

reading the justin-is-a-wacko story. ::falls over giggling::

oh my god. so fucking funny. of course, i am probably not very far into it, yet.

no, man, it's just getting better. teehee.

the free science fiction and fantasy library at baen (publishers of lois mcmaster bujold's vorkosigan, david weber's honor harrington, and elizabeth moon's everything, among others). you can read them totally online or download them in several formats including to pdfs.

lois mcmaster bujold, i need hardly say, is one of my favorite writers. her first award-winning novella, the mountains of mourning, is available for download here.

david weber is also very popular, although i'm not particularly fond of him. the writing's a little too juvenile and mercedes lackey-ish. however, if he wrote slash i'd rec it, and i've recc'd some people who remind me strongly of him or of lackey or both, so i thought i'd include the link. besides which, i did enjoy the first two honor harrington novels (both of which are available here). after that, i got disgusted and stopped, although the rest of them are lying around our house somewhere or other.

oh, and you can get a an eBook emulator for PC free from mobipocket here. i'm not sure, exactly, what the supposed advantage of reading as an ebook rather than an html file is, but perhaps some of you know.

i'm sure you'll all be pleased to know that in the last few days i've discovered that i don't HAVE to have wax around all the time. this isn't to say that i don't experience little spasms of anxiousness, but i am not constantly itching to run off and find her. i was very proud of this, let me tell you.

cimness: well, it's only sensible.
cimness: like an evolutionary defense except not.
BabyBlueWax: except not.
cimness: well, i doubt that humans have evolved to cling whenever their s.o.'s leave their immediate line of sight
cimness: i mean, would be inconvenient, wouldn't it?
BabyBlueWax: right. yes.
cimness: in the, er, nomadic tribe. no work'd get done.

wow, see how readily i think in terms of evolutionary defenses and survival of the species and whatnot? daddy should be delighted with me.

p.s. please, append a 'self-' to the front of my mood, mentally, you understand.
