13 Mar 2003 04:30 pmeveryone knows singin' in the rain is my favorite movie.
the last climactic scene is a little corny, but then, so is this icon. from roger ebert:
meanwhile cosimo jumps off the stage, snatches the orchestra conductor's baton, whispers to the first violin and strikes up 'my lucky star.' don sings it onstage, kathy comes into his arms, they finish it as an incredibly mushy duet.

Kathy flees down the aisle--but then, in one of the great romantic moments in the movies, she's held in foreground closeup while Lockwood, onstage, cries out, ``Ladies and gentlemen, stop that girl! That girl running up the aisle! That's the girl whose voice you heard and loved tonight! She's the real star of the picture--Kathy Selden!'' It's corny, but it's perfect.

a flyswatter aimed at the word 'twits.'
memo to said twits:
1.
iconsensual, as a livejournal community, has guidelines, and also some standards of ethics, and also a moderator, MOI, to enforce them.
2. as a conscientious and intelligent person, i don't go about rebuking people without making certain they've really transgressed something or other.
3. please don't condescend to me. at all. ever. why? it's not nice. i don't care if you know more about it than i do (although ethics are a question of, well, philosophy and opinion, so it doesn't really come up).
