Did all of you already know about this Gary Oldman Nokia commercial? If so, everyone who didn't tell me is FIRED.

Tim Roth in a mid-season filler show at Fox about the science of lie detection! There's a source link at the post.

I couldn't help getting a little excited during the trailer even though I have absolutely zero confidence in Fox's ability to not cancel a good show. But his real accent! And his... lounging! It's been too long since he's been acting regularly.

wax made chocolate cupcakes last night and forgot the baking powder.  the texture's still fine, they just look rather hilariously concave.

yesterday i tagged all the images in my screencap galleries from a dangerous man and meantime and then i uploaded and sorted and tagged my 800+ screencaps from rosencrantz & guildenstern are dead.  there REALLY should be a method of tagging in the interface that lets you tag more than one at a time, because as it is you have to go through... one picture at a time.  unfortunately (or fortunately?) my ocd tendencies wouldn't let me go to bed before i finished tagging (nearly 4 am).  so the cool effect of the tags, mainly, is the tim, gary, and tim/gary tags which encompass caps from meantime and from r&g.  (there are character-specific tags too for both movies, and a lawrence/feisal one under adm.)

but after i was finished with all of that i noticed that if you look at the parent gallery it now lists--for example--3888 pictures in r&g because, apparently, it's separately counted the contents of each sub-gallery, so in effect every tagged cap is listed a minimum of twice (if it's just ros or guil), but is listed six times if it contains both of them (tags: tim, gary, ros, guil, tim/gary, and ros/guil).  so, like, i wish they'd fix that.  there are, in fact, under 300 meantime caps, not 2227.  for now i can't really think of any way to fix that.

happy birthday, [livejournal.com profile] makesmewannadie. it's the next day where i am, but it's still your birthday where you are.

it was actually gary oldman's birthday yesterday.  in any practical sense, i don't particularly care about his birthday--it's not like i know him personally--, but i've seen enough pictures posted that i figured it was as good an excuse as any to post.

so i present my favourite gary oldman picture ), the one that inspired it's called the world

the other thing that inspired said novellette was [livejournal.com profile] wolfsage's comment about gary growling here (i hunted through months of community and journal posts for this damn thread ).  and my favourite bit of unapologetically kinky fantasy from that fic: )

my homework was to write a follow-up phone conversation for "lust och längtan" following certain guidelines. believe me, if it were me, even coffee!gary and tim wouldn't be clueless enough to hang up without making another date.

tim's brain:  he's so fun!  and easy to talk to!
tim's brain:  if only i could kiss him.
gary's brain:  now i kiss him!
tim: sugar?
gary: yes, please.

the full coffee!tim & gary is here.

oh bad writing, how i sometimes ♥ thy absurdity.

copied from [livejournal.com profile] perhael's entry here.  because i couldn't NOT have it in my tags.

hon tänker says:
tim smirks a little and lights the fresh fag from the smouldering end of his own. "i don't think i do," he murmurs, looking up under his eyelashes.
still danny from the block says:
at which point gary died of cute, end of story
hon tänker says:
HAHAHAHAH
hon tänker says:
you forgot the OMGANGSTY epilogue at his funeral
still danny from the block zegt:
omg noooo, how could i?
hon tänker says:
where steve buscemi and sean penn take gary out for drinks
still danny from the block zegt:
hahahaha
hon tänker says:
er... tim
hon tänker says:
they don't take gary
hon tänker says:
they leave him in the coffin
still danny from the block says:
that would just be creepy. although..... he did play dracula
hon tänker says:
right, and while seann penn is creepy as well as kind of a pompous ass, he's not that creepy
hon tänker says:
OMG NO I SEE A SEQUEL
hon tänker says:
vampire!gary makes tim immortal
hon tänker says:
so that they can be together forever

"writing can let you work through something. you don't know what the characters are going to do to you, exactly, when you start. it's like playing with a ouija board to communicate with your own subconscious."

" ...omg now i really like that metaphor and want a ouija board icon with like tim and gary ghosts hovering over it."

i actually started to type up the whole handout. i was going to translate it too but i got bored and stopped halfway through the swedish.

suffice it to say that on top of being badly-written, it features a coffee date conversation between a man and a woman, where they keep telling us what they think AND what they say. they're saying things like, "coffee keeps getting more expensive", "actually it got a little cheaper lately but you know it'll go up again!", "i use an electric brewer", "they make the best coffee! they can be a little dangerous though!"

and they're thinking things like, "he's so fun and easy to talk to" and "he's probably not interested" and "if only i dared kiss him" and "how could he be interested in little old ME?"

...possibly the fact that this reminds me of the wip isn't a good thing.

lust och längtan (feat wishywashy!gary and tim) )

[livejournal.com profile] perhael and i have been discussing how incredibly dysfunctional and clueless our gary and tim are, in light of the fact that our wip has reached 37 pages, and neither one of them, despite fifteen years of in loooooooooveness, has even come within a stone's throw of realising he's in looooooooove (i use the extra os with reason.  you'll understand when you read this story, hahah).  i had her in stitches with this:

[01:01] so many inanimate things: men shouldn't be allowed to reach adulthood, i think
[01:01] Caramel Girl: hahahaha
[01:01] so many inanimate things: if only people could reproduce without them their sheer self-damaging stupidity would be enough to make them more of a danger than an asset to the gene pool
[01:02] Caramel Girl: *is in stitches*
[01:02] so many inanimate things: imagine the genetic child of this tim and this gary
[01:02] Caramel Girl: .... the most fucked up, ballsy child ever?
[01:03] so many inanimate things: *ballsy*?
[01:03] so many inanimate things: DUDE.
[01:04] so many inanimate things: no, i was picturing more like the kid's first day of school
[01:05] so many inanimate things: "wait.  i need to think about this.  i'll be ready to go as soon as i've figured it out."
[01:05] so many inanimate things: "when will that be?"
[01:05] Caramel Girl: HAHAHHAHA
[01:05] so many inanimate things: "omg u distressed me. now i will never noe! im going to bed."

at long long last it's finished. thanks to [livejournal.com profile] kmazzy and [livejournal.com profile] wild_boys for their speedy and comprehensive british betaing, and most especially to [livejournal.com profile] perhael for holding my hand and cheerleading through practically every scene. this one's definitely for you, lilah.

high rent
author: [livejournal.com profile] cimorene111
rating: nc-17; v/ graphic sex
summary: au. 1982 london: to celebrate what could be his big break, gary oldman goes out to celebrate... and picks up a rent boy.
some slight background: by a strange and alarming coincidence, the possibility of this story was first discussed in [livejournal.com profile] rosnguil one year ago tomorrow. wild!

i've also, just in case, posted it in my writing journal.
cimorene: cartoony drawing of a woman's head in profile giving dubious side-eye (Default)
caramel girl says:
(how much more preparation would tim realistically need? is he ready yet?)

doesn't matter if they break so long as they're there says:
the second finger is easier than the first,--a short shock and then--tim bites his lip and (*realistically*? dude, i'm not a gay man--i'm making it up too! i think realistically, way more than i intend to give them)

And that is just one of the reasons.

...ahahahah.  yeah.

i don't do asking memes because i can't really comprehend the state of not being open for questions.  if something ticked me off i obviously wouldn't answer it, but i can't come up with anything that would offend.  i'm also a "no such thing as tmi" kind of person, except with respect to certain people i hardly want to know anything at all about, and then it's more the person than the trivia.  perhaps these things are related.  i've thought about this a lot, because every time there's a wave of those "ask anything" or "ask anything, v. my fic" or "ask anything, v. userpics" memes going around i have to stop countless times and wonder.

i'm ocd like that.

in other news, partway through page fifty.  i don't know if i can go to bed tonight before it's finished.

the copy of the play she sent me has black and white stills on the inside too! including rosencrantz in the bath!

uhmmmm. mmmmmmmmmmh.

okay. so. i have another obligation to discharge first, but i'm actually pretty eager to write a holmes/watson smutlet for you. challenges are so useful that way. they kick aside one's natural tendency to procrastinate.
