more home decorating babble:
1 Jul 2002 09:05 ami'm thinking i'll work on room-decorating a bit this morning, when mom gets back from walking the dog. i have a lovely antique japanese paper lamp from my grandmother--not the globe kind, but a neat elongated one, so we need a light fixture for that, some hooks on the wall for hanging coats and bags, brackets for curtain rods, stuff like that.
we were working on hanging the art in the livingroom, only to discover that our focal-point prints are too large to fit over the mantel and will have to go in the corner instead. now we can't find anything good enough to go over the mantel at all.
life is tough.

1 Jul 2002 09:19 amthere seemed to be a $270 price difference between the flight i wanted and the cheapest, which would have been too much for my parents. upon some poking, however, i have determined that that one takes nine hours starting way too early in the morning, since we'd have to get to the airport by three or 3:30 am. the difference between the cheapest reasonable flight and the one that i want is only $144, so i might be able to afford the difference between what they'll pay and what it costs.

buffett's arm until she let me read the smutbomb-in-revision that she and mcee wrote. they will modestly call this a pwp, but it actually does have a plot. it certainly receives a seal of approval. mmmmmmhm.
meanwhile, it's about 33 degrees C outside, which is something over 90 F (imagine: i didn't even look). otoh, it might be sufficient to say only "it's alabama." it's also above 80 inside, or it was until 30 seconds ago when the ac kicked on after i adjusted the thermostat.
i've slept the whole morning away after waking up briefly at 8 to bother my tantalizing obsession. it was good for me. now i feel truly awake, even though my mother is gone and there's no sign of the cable folks. *fretfret*

1 Jul 2002 07:06 pmso i've started my housesitting job. and here i am, updating from the cable internet in my employers' house. this is the president of our uu congregation, his wife and two adopted korean children (who are easily the cutest little bad boys ever born. i call them "my babies," although not, of course, to their faces). gave the cat a shot, got the mail and fed the dogs. this house is large and cool and pretty, and its state of disorder looks like our kitchen on a good day. bev apologized for the mess in quite a cute way. later i'm going to sleep here, but for tonight i have more work to do at home and i haven't brought over toiletries or clothes or anything.
i was SUPPOSED to get cable internet at home today so i'd be able to chat and surf and read smut to my heart's content. my dreams and comcast cable had a little disagreement when they arrived early and failed to ring the doorbell, opting instead, apparently, to knock very very quietly even though i live in a big house, which you can tell perfectly well, i might add, from the outside. by looking.
at any rate, mom got home and discovered a "sorry we missed you" sign on the door, and when i called to reschedule they were slippery and evasive as usual. will i ever have the cable internet i need to talk for eight whole hours at a time with certain crumpets as i prefer, and to download endless mp3s and make new wallpapers?
stay tuned. only time will tell.
